BMC acquires sand reserves near Kermit, Texas

webmaster · July 25, 2017 ·

BERLIN, WISCONSIN – JULY 25, 2017 –  Badger Mining Corporation (BMC), a family-owned, values-driven industrial sand supplier, recently purchased property containing sand reserves located north of Kermit, Texas. The property contains over 35 years of estimated sand reserves, predominately featuring finer grades of sand such as 40/70 and 100 mesh. The reserve will add in-basin Texas sand to BMC’s portfolio of Wisconsin Northern White, Atlas resin coated sand, TURBOprop™, and extensive North American distribution footprint.

“Badger Mining realizes how important in-basin sands are becoming to the oil and gas industry,” says Cody Wickersheim, president and Advisory Team member at BMC. “As the industry continues to make changes, BMC will adapt with it. Our unique location north of Kermit with direct access to Highway 18 places us in an advantageous position to serve some of the best properties in the Permian Basin. We believe Badger’s culture, values, history, and commitment to excellence are additional differentiating factors in serving the local industry.”

BMC has been mining Northern White industrial sand for more than 60 years in Wisconsin, where it currently has three sand mining facilities and three sand coating plants. Additionally, Badger Mining has nearly 30 distribution sites across North America, eight of which are located in Texas. While the company has supplied the oil and gas industry since 1979, it also serves the foundry, construction, agriculture, recreation, and filter media markets.

“We are looking forward to working with – and becoming a part of – the Kermit community,” says Wickersheim. “As a family-owned company, Badger Mining is committed to supporting the communities where our associates live and work, and we are excited at the opportunity to help Kermit and Winkler County continue to grow.”

Development of the site for a sand mining facility will begin immediately with an anticipated completion date of April 2018. Once complete, the mine will have a capacity of 3 million tons per year and employ approximately 30 full time associates.

BMC releases new economical resin coated proppant, Atlas CRC-One

webmaster · June 1, 2017 ·

TAYLOR, WISCONSIN – May 22, 2017 – Badger Mining Corporation (BMC) is pleased to announce the release of Atlas CRC-One, a new resin coated proppant under its BadgerCoated™ line that is the ultimate in economical solutions for proppant flowback prevention in moderate temperature reservoirs. CRC-One’s exclusive resin complex offers protection from harsh well conditions and reduces or eliminates fines migration in the fracture, all without sacrificing strength or conductivity.

“Proppant flowback is a costly problem, but preventing it does not have to be,” says Adam Katz, BMC leader of sales and marketing. “CRC-One is a tool every engineer should keep in mind when designing a hydraulic fracturing treatment.”

Atlas CRC-One has a reduced resin coating percentage, but still provides the consistency and quality of all BadgerCoated™ products.

“From improving existing proppants to developing new ones, BMC is committed to refining and expanding its product portfolio to meet the needs of today’s customers,” says Erica Grant, leader of research and development at BMC.

All Atlas CRC-One is coated on BadgerFrac™, a Premium Northern White sand substrate originating from the company’s mining facilities in Wisconsin. CRC-One will be available at any of BMC’s 28 current transload locations throughout North America. More information on CRC-One can be found at badgerminingcorp.com/products-technical.

BMC completes rail expansion at Taylor, Wisc. facility

webmaster · April 12, 2017 ·

TAYLOR, WISCONSIN – April 11, 2017 – Badger Mining Corporation (BMC) recently completed work on a 4,500-foot rail expansion project on rail siding near its Taylor, Wisc. facilities, allowing the site to now hold up to three unit trains concurrently. For more than a decade, BMC’s three rail sidings have sat alongside the CN rail line in downtown Taylor, but until this project, could only hold approximately 70 railcars each. With the additional 1,500 feet of rail on each siding, each track can now accommodate more than 100 railcars each. The additions reflect BMC’s continued focus on enhancing its distribution network.

“The ability to ship multiple unit trains effectively allows us to operate at the scale necessary to drive down costs in today’s market,” says Adam Katz, leader of sales and marketing at BMC. “Together with our partners at the CN, we recognized that unit trains are becoming a necessity in many markets and this expansion puts us at the leading edge of operational efficiency.”

The project again showcases the strong working relationship between Badger Mining and the CN (TSX: CNR; NYSE: CNI). Aside from hauling many of BMC’s railcars, the railroad company has been a constant presence at Badger Mining facilities over the years as the mining company continues to expand its distribution system.

“CN has a long and successful partnership with BMC in Taylor and Wisconsin,” said Fiona Murray, vice president of industrial products at CN. “We’ve invested heavily in our corridor that runs between Taylor and Wisconsin Rapids to support the frac sand industry growth and allow our commercial partners like BMC to move more frac sand and develop a more robust supply chain.”

This expansion further enhances Badger Mining Corporation’s unit train service to many of its 28 transload locations throughout the United States and Canada.
