BERLIN, WISCONSIN – JULY 25, 2017 – Badger Mining Corporation (BMC), a family-owned, values-driven industrial sand supplier, recently purchased property containing sand reserves located north of Kermit, Texas. The property contains over 35 years of estimated sand reserves, predominately featuring finer grades of sand such as 40/70 and 100 mesh. The reserve will add in-basin Texas sand to BMC’s portfolio of Wisconsin Northern White, Atlas resin coated sand, TURBOprop™, and extensive North American distribution footprint.
“Badger Mining realizes how important in-basin sands are becoming to the oil and gas industry,” says Cody Wickersheim, president and Advisory Team member at BMC. “As the industry continues to make changes, BMC will adapt with it. Our unique location north of Kermit with direct access to Highway 18 places us in an advantageous position to serve some of the best properties in the Permian Basin. We believe Badger’s culture, values, history, and commitment to excellence are additional differentiating factors in serving the local industry.”
BMC has been mining Northern White industrial sand for more than 60 years in Wisconsin, where it currently has three sand mining facilities and three sand coating plants. Additionally, Badger Mining has nearly 30 distribution sites across North America, eight of which are located in Texas. While the company has supplied the oil and gas industry since 1979, it also serves the foundry, construction, agriculture, recreation, and filter media markets.
“We are looking forward to working with – and becoming a part of – the Kermit community,” says Wickersheim. “As a family-owned company, Badger Mining is committed to supporting the communities where our associates live and work, and we are excited at the opportunity to help Kermit and Winkler County continue to grow.”
Development of the site for a sand mining facility will begin immediately with an anticipated completion date of April 2018. Once complete, the mine will have a capacity of 3 million tons per year and employ approximately 30 full time associates.
