BERLIN, WISCONSIN – JUNE 10, 2016 – Since 1986, Badger Mining has been funding a scholarship program for students intending to pursue a degree in Mining Engineering, other Engineering curricula, or Environmental Science. Each year, five $10,000 scholarships are awarded to five deserving students in each of the communities in which BMC has an office or production facility. Two students are chosen from our Area A, which includes the Markesan, Green Lake, Princeton, Ripon, and Rosendale-Brandon School Districts. Two students are chosen from our Area B, which comprises of the Blair-Taylor, Black River Falls, and Alma Center School Districts. One student is chosen from our Area C, which covers the Berlin Area School District.
The nominees for the Badger Mining Corporation 2016-2017 Scholarship awards have been received, selected, and awarded.
In Area A, the recipient is Drew Muehlenhaupt from Markesan High School. Drew has chosen to major in Biomedical Engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Shelly Bernhagen presented the BMC Scholarship to Drew on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
In Area A, the recipient is Chris Lyke from Ripon High School. Chris has chosen to major in Engineering at Dartmouth College. Todd Huggins presented the BMC Scholarship to James on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
In Area B, the recipient is Deven Lien from Blair-Taylor High School. Deven will be majoring in Electrical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. Heather Horton presented the BMC Scholarship to Deven on Sunday, May 21, 2017.
In Area B, the recipient is Jack Wirtz from Black River Falls High School. Jack will major in Engineering and he will be attending the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Jaime Morden presented the BMC Scholarship to Jack on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
In Area C, the recipient is Clinton Ottman. Clinton will be majoring in Environmental Engineering at Michigan Technological University. Mary Hutzler presented the BMC Scholarship to Clinton on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
