Since 1986, Badger Mining has been funding a scholarship program for students intending to pursue a degree in Mining Engineering, other Engineering curriculum, or Environmental Science. Each year, one $10,000 scholarship is awarded to a deserving student in each of the five areas in which BMC has an office and/or a production facility. The nominees for the Badger Mining Corporation 2017-2018 Scholarship have been received, selected, and awarded.
In Area A, which includes the Markesan, Green Lake, Princeton, Ripon, and Rosendale-Brandon School Districts, two recipients are chosen. The recipients are Austin Triggs from Markesan High School and Alexa Mydlach from Princeton High School. Austin has chosen to major in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Shelly Bernhagen presented the BMC Scholarship to Austin on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Alexa has chosen to major in Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin- Platteville. Craig LeNoble presented the BMC Scholarship to Alexa on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
In Area B, which includes the Blair-Taylor, Black River Falls, and Alma Center School Districts, two recipients are chosen. The recipients are Jacob Woods from Black River Falls High School and Simon Mikel of Lincoln High School in Alma Center. Jacob will be majoring in Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Rob Olson presented the BMC Scholarship to Jacob on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. Simon will major in Engineering and he will be attending the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Dan Koxlien presented the BMC Scholarship to Simon on Monday, May 21, 2018.
In Area C, which includes the Berlin Area School District, the recipient is Adam Wiegel. Adam will be majoring in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Mary Hutzler presented the BMC Scholarship to Adam on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
