BMC to construct new transload facility near Pecos, Texas

webmaster · September 1, 2016 ·

Pecos, Texas – September 1, 2016 – A plot of land just south of Pecos, Texas will become home to the newest transload facility for Badger Mining Corporation (BMC) in the coming months. Sitting on the Pecos Valley Southern Railway, which connects to the Union Pacific in Pecos, the nearly 300-acre site will accommodate 120 railcar spots after Phase I of construction is complete in early 2017.

“Badger Mining is positioning itself to remain a leader in the silica sand industry with multiple recent expansions in its distribution network,” says Steve Banker, logistics development associate at BMC. “This newest addition to the BMC family of distribution points is a result of intense research and planning, and in the end, all signs point towards Pecos.”

The transload, with its easy access to both state and interstate highway systems, will be staffed for 24/7 service. When complete, it will become BMC’s 25th transload facility in the company’s North American distribution network.

“Our customers are doing amazing things in the Delaware Basin and we look forward to supporting them in producing some of the best wells in the country,” says Adam Katz, leader of sales and marketing at Badger Mining. “Increased proppant intensity will present new challenges in the future; with our new site in Pecos, we will have the scale and location necessary to grow right along with our customers.”

First unit train of sand arrives at BMC’s Erick, OK facility

webmaster · August 26, 2016 ·

Erick, Oklahoma – August 24, 2016 – Badger Mining Corporation’s (BMC) recently-opened Erick, Oklahoma transload facility received its first unit train of sand today. The shipment adds to product already at the wholly owned and operated site, which primarily serves the Anadarko Basin. The transload facility can accommodate up to 160 railcars of product on its 3,200 feet of side rail and 7,400 feet of working track, and is situated at the end of the Farmrail shortline railroad outside of Erick.

“The additional material, and simple fact that our facility is unit train capable, will expand our product offerings out of Erick,” says Adam Katz, vice president of sales and marketing at BMC. “The mixture of those increased offerings with the transload’s size and location within the Anadarko Basin continues to add value to our customers in western Oklahoma and northern Texas.”

Rayland, Ohio is home to Badger Mining’s newest transload

webmaster · April 25, 2016 ·

BERLIN, WI – April 25, 2016 – Rayland, Ohio, a village located 50 miles southwest of Pittsburgh and situated along the Ohio River, is home to the newest transload facility for Badger Mining Corporation (BMC), a family-owned, values-driven supplier of Premium Northern-White industrial raw and coated silica sand. For users of industrial silica sand in the region, this unit train-capable site on the Wheeling & Lake Eric (WE) Railroad has many benefits, from being able to handle jobs with reduced lead time to its ability to manage large sized projects.

“With mining properties on both the CN and WSOR, we are uniquely situated to supply both the Utica region and the industrial area around Rayland with the great products our customers have come to expect from Badger Mining,” says Adam Katz, vice president of sales and marketing. “With a facility this size, we can operate a streamlined rail-to-truck operation, eliminating any additional handling that can result in contamination, degradation, and shrinkage.”

The new facility joins Badger Mining’s 28 existing transload locations throughout the United States and Canada. Material is already on-site.

Badger Mining’s Erick, Oklahoma transload facility now open for business

webmaster · April 13, 2016 ·

ERICK, OK – April 11, 2016 – After a year of construction and several setbacks due to historic rainfall, Badger Mining Corporation’s (BMC) Erick, Oklahoma transload facility is now open for business. The wholly owned and operated site primarily serves the Anadarko Basin and sits in an area that BMC believes is currently underserved. For the family-owned, decades-old supplier of Premium Northern-White industrial raw and coated silica sand, the stacked nature of the basin as well as the quality of the reserves it contains speaks to the region’s potential moving forward. Situated at the end of the Farmrail shortline railroad outside of Erick, the transload facility can accommodate up to 160 railcars of product on its 3,200 feet of side rail and 7,400 feet of working track. Material has already been shipped to the facility and is currently on-site.

“I started my career over ten years ago in Western Oklahoma, so I’m particularly proud of our investment in Erick,” says Adam Katz, vice president of sales and marketing. “The size and location of our new site is going to add value to our customers operating in the Anadarko Basin by reducing cost and minimizing miles to the wellhead, leading to a safer operation all around.”

BMC has had great partners in both the state of Oklahoma as well as the city of Erick as this project progressed. From its efforts to help find the ideal site to its assistance securing a grant to rehabilitate twelve miles of railroad, the state of Oklahoma has been eager to help since the beginning. Furthermore, the city of Erick and its people have welcomed Badger Mining with true hospitality and optimism, and BMC is proud to now have this tight-knit city as another one of its stakeholder communities.

Badger Mining expands distribution network with new transload facility in Bill, Wyoming

webmaster · February 24, 2016 ·

Taylor, Wisconsin – February 24, 2016 – Railcars of sand leaving Badger Mining Corporation today headed to a different destination for the first time – BMC’s newest transload facility in Bill, Wyoming. For Badger Mining, a family-owned, values-driven supplier of Premium Northern-White industrial raw and coated sand, this new location will better serve current and future customers in the Powder River Basin. For several decades, Badger Mining has been a sand supplier to operators and service companies in this region, but the new Bill site adds two new dynamics currently missing from BMC’s transloads in the region – its unit train capability as well as its unique location on both the BN and UP railroads.

“Being on both rail lines gives us greater flexibility, which in the end will help us give our customers the best service and prices in the region,” says Adam Katz, vice president of sales and marketing.

Expanding its distribution network with more transload locations also takes into account safety, which is one of Badger Mining’s four corporate values. With the sand closer to the wells, the need for trucks to transport that sand long distances diminishes. From a safety perceptive, less trucks on the road can easily be seen as a benefit.

The new facility will join Badger Mining’s 27 existing transload locations throughout the United States and Canada.

“Adding additional transload sites to our distribution network continues to remain a focus of Badger Mining Corporation,” says Randy Hess, transportation and logistics team leader. “Because of the important role transportation plays in our industry, a lot of effort and consideration goes into finding the best locations for our transload facilities. We believe Bill, Wyoming puts us in a great spot in this region.”

BMC will have material on-site and ready for customers by March 1.

“We are very excited about opening this site in Bill, Wyoming, as it will undoubtedly help us bring the quality sand our customers have come to expect and deserve from Badger even closer to their operations,” says Katz.
